Lee Story in the woods who's been there it's written by Lindsay Barrett George trail with William and Cami blue after clue tell them what bird or animal has been there before and left its Trace behind joint in a journey of discovery it's a cool and sunny on this Autumn afternoon the smell sweet-fern is everywhere William do you want to go for a walk and scare me volume let's go the children follow a well-worn path into the woods they walk under an old cherry tree they see in empty nest a northern Oriole Champion William come out to a big rock a tree has split it and a Flintstone juts out of the tree who's been there a red squirrel the trail follows an old Stonewall the children and their dog Sam climb over it with milkweed plants grows in the field on the other side something hang from a milkweed Leaf who's been here a monarch butterfly Cami in Williams climb over a school gray tree that's Fallen across the trail the bark has been gnawed off the branches close to the ground who's been here snowshoe hare the trail then she finds another one and five more under a laurel Bush who's been here a goshawk and a blue jay gray rocks break up the leaf covered Hillside something black catches the children's eyes it's a small dark Sam runs ahead is barks at the opening William stops and grabs his sister's hand there are bleached Bones on the ledge outside the cave call Sam of red foxes and a woodchuck William and Cami stop the cycle are grey Boulder something strange is stuck to the Rock it's a mud dauber wasp in Orange Wood Lily stands in a sunny flowers almost as tall as Cammy there's another stop next to it but the flowers gone who's been here adir Cami and William follow the path on the way home the rich smells sweet Fern fills the air again they find a basket on the Block under an old Apple Tree I wonder who's been here William asked what kammenos on their Journey to the forest they've discovered all kinds of signs of the animals that live there
