Assistant Principal's Message

Beth Peavey

I grew up in San Francisco and Santa Rosa, California when my parents decided to make the big move across the country to China, Maine. I attended China Middle School and graduated from Oak Grove Coburn High School in Vassalboro, Maine which is now the Maine Police Academy.

The University of New England is where I met my husband, Del Peavey. We both graduated together in 1991. I graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education and Elementary Education. While continuing my education towards earning a Master’s Degree from the University of Southern Maine in Special Education, I worked at the Spurwink School and MSAD 6 as a special education teacher.  In addition to being a special education teacher, I worked in MSAD 6 teaching kindergarten, second, and fourth grade. I was also the lead teacher for grades K and 1, literacy leader, and technology leader for the school during the final two years in MSAD 6. From 2012-14, I worked at the Windham Primary School as a second-grade teacher, grade level coach, and team leader.

In 2014, I became Songo Locks Elementary School’s assistant principal in Naples, Maine.  During my time working in the Lake Region School District, I was fortunate to be able to complete a yearlong Curriculum Coordinator internship. Through the Maine Department of Education, I hold both a Leadership and Curriculum Coordinator certification.

I have three grown children who have all attended RES and JSMS. Our oldest, Jeremy, is attending the University of Vermont as he works towards acquiring a Master’s Degree in Medical Sciences. He hopes to attend medical school in the next two years. Shelby is taking classes at MCHP in nursing but hopes to transfer to a BSN nursing program. Cameron just moved into UMO to begin his freshman year as a chemical engineering student.

Now that the children are grown and the house is quiet, I have time to spend with my three dogs and update the house.

I am proud and fortunate to be a member of the RES community! My goal as Assistant Principal is to continue to provide a place where our students can learn and grow academically and socially.

I look forward in getting know the students, families, and staff members of RES!
