so now that our head voices all warmed up we can sit 1 of the ways we learn to sing is to do an echo I sing and make copy my singing and it teaches them to match it in other words make their song just like my song this song is about a very naughty good no feeling fine the come back the shirt like the tree and some songs they learn to sing all by himself 1 of the songs they learned is Aken drum it's about a man whose name is Akin drum which is unusual and he lives in an unusual place he lives in the Moon and he plays a Lego as a musical instrument but that's not even the strangest thing about it the strangest thing about him is his body parts are made of food and on the back of your program you can see that it can drums they create we are not going to sing all of the parts we'd be here till tomorrow we're going to sing just okay a cheeseburger the legs were made of french fries the name was in music class we also make up our own songs and we do um vocal improvisation so make it Up songs right on the Fly we have all kinds of different ideas to help us but 1 thing we do is and so I'm just going to I've chosen 2 stew students to come up and down demonstrate what we would do in music class this is puppet arioso okay Jacob meow meow meow meow meow meow meow meow meow meow meow meow meow meow meow in music class we listen to instrumental music and we really learned to listen so you're going to hear a piece by Beethoven and the students have learned to listen for musical cues and they are going to do movement that they've learned and they're going to change the music of their movements by hearing the musical cues and except for me giving them a hint once in a while because there are many different movements I am not doing the movements with them they are listened listening and doing the movements according to what they hear this also kind of tells a story they're cooking so you will see them scoop things like flour you will see them peel you will see them chop you will see them break eggs you will see them and then you will see some surprises lady in music class we do lots of finger plays a finger play is a song or a chant and you do hand motions with them um that go with the word so we are going to show you the exact Pro procedure that we use uh to learn a finger play first I do the words and they do the movements with me this is the sea the way then after I do that a lot um then I say the words that they do the movements without me and then after I do that a lot I do the movements they say the word and then finally they're on their own and whenever I teach anything in music class a song everything I always try and make sure that by the time we're done they can do it without me they can do it themselves so I can just say go play that or ghosting them and they have it now our next 1 is a move movement act and this 1 I will sing a little bit with them just because they're singing and moving and it's very echoey in here and I'm going to help keep them together but they can do this all right so is this your partner let those hands face your partner all right are we 1 2 ready go you may walk back to your seat and we play instruments in music class to learn how to keep the steady beat sticks for you and when I passed the sticks out the children aren't allowed to have free play and then we'll show you how we stopped all together 3 2 1 and when we keep the steady beat we have a beat leader who sets the beat for us um we're going to do chop chop chippity chop we're pretending to chop things to put into a pot and so after I be the first beat leader then we'll have 4 students be beat and they'll say what we are chopping to put into the we are shopping talking all right what are we trying what are you shopping carrots Sheamus whether we truck Sheamus cookies at the end of music class we usually have what I call an end of class calm down song uh for which their teachers are probably grateful um usually I sing the song to them as a way to model good singing and it's usually a song with lots of verses that they could learn their own but 1 of them they have learned well enough to sing with me so here is our end of concert calm down song I see and glue your know I know shine on the 1 I see heart I sing I shine on the world thank you so much for coming to our concert I hope you had a good time and if there are any preschool students out there I hope you think this looked like a fun cuz you're going to have a lot of fun next
