Book Buddies

Our Book Buddies!

Every Friday we meet with Mrs. Child's second-grade class for 30 minutes to read the books we have created and have them read to us. My students have the authentic task of using their new literacy skills as they are reading their books with their Book Buddies.  The second-grade students develop dramatic modulations and inflections in their oral reading abilities.  They quickly gain a sense of accomplishment as they realize how their own reading ability has progressed.  This program provides the opportunity for fluency practice and a method to boost a reader's self-confidence.
